Oh, so much going on today. First of all, there's this headline in the cnn.com sidebar: Hussein trial erupts in 'whore' insult, expulsions

Second, there's this mother and baby who were killed in Boston, Rachel and Lilian Entwistle.
Is this child not the yelling emoticon from AIM?

Third, I finished watching Seven Brides for Seven Brothers this morning. That was hands down the most offensive movie I've ever seen in my life. It sucked, for one thing, which a bunch of lame songs and only one good dancing scene. But the song Debbie told me about which caused me to need to see the movie is Sobbin' Women, where the men plot in song to kidnap a bunch of women to take as brides, like the Romans took the Sabine women, and how they'll be all upset about it at first, but then they'll come around to the idea. But the thing is, this plan actually works. I mean, this movie was made in 1954, but even back then I feel that people should have universally understood that abducting women is not charming, you know? Anyway, Julie Newmar and Russ Tamblyn were in it, so that's cool.

Cohen taking a nap, per Debbie's request.

Okay, so a few months ago I took my parakeet Cohen to Petco to have his wings clipped, and I had to wait around for a while and there were dogs in the store and stuff and I didn't think about covering his cage, so he was all freaked out, and then when the woman took him to clip his wings, he got all freaked out and dropped some of his feathers. The woman was really apologetic, but she said that that is just something that birds do sometimes and he'll be okay. So I took the feathers and I bought him a bunch of presents and treats and took him home and he's happy and cute again, and best of all he's regrown the beautiful long tail feathers that fell out.

Second best of all are the earrings I made with the feathers.

All right, I'm not going to say anything spoilery about last night's 24 because I know Jim hasn't watched it yet. But I have to say these things: 1) I love Chloe. 2) The anchor on the Fox News Channel was John Beard, of the local Fox 11 News Team in Los Angeles and the fictional Fox 6 News Team in Newport Beach. That was very exciting for me.

PS: The fictional Fox 6 News Team in Newport Beach is the news on Arrested Development, because in the real Newport Beach they watch Fox 11, same as in LA, and they still watch John Beard, except I'm sure he doesn't say funny things like "It's called a cup-uh-kino and wait'll you see what it costs." Hence the link on fictional to a site about Arrested Development. And hence my excitement, because the guy on Arrested Development was on 24 last night. You think I watch the local news on Fox? When I have cable? Please. You know, I go for subtlety and it just flies back in my face.

So it appears that I am now the only girl taking Math 280, Logic (there are only 4 guys taking it, so this is not a huge thing, you know). Also, and I'm not sure of this as I've only made a few casual observations, but I do believe I'm the only one in the class who takes notes using a pink sparkle gel pen. Weird.

Things I'm looking forward to this coming quarter:
1. An office, hopefully (maybe even with internet!)
2. No ballet (actually, I mean no class at 8:30 three days a week)
3. Knowing from the start that I hate Prof. R**** so much that I must never ever participate in lecture.
4. Day 5.
5. My new hot pink backpack.

Happy New Year! It's cold and rainy here, and I have not left my apartment in two days, but that's just fine by me. I have been busy with my pictures, though. Jim!!!), and at Beth's request I made a mix CD of songs I really like to share with her and Tim. Here's the playlist:

4. Iggy and the Stooges - Search and Destroy
5. Screamin' Jay Hawkins - Frenzy
6. Queen - Killer Queen
7. Connie Stevens - Sixteen Reasons
8. Beyonce and Jay-Z - Crazy in Love
9. The Raincoats - Lola
10. Mazzy Star - Halah
11. David Bowie - Queen Bitch
12. Tom Jones and Art of Noise - Kiss
13. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Red Right Hand
14. Iggy Pop - Nazi Girlfriend
15. Sonic Youth - Superstar
16. Cat Power - Satisfaction
17. PJ Harvey - Nickel Under the Foot
18. Belle and Sebastian - Marx and Engels
19. Magnetic Fields - Busby Berkeley Dreams
20. David Bowie - Time

I had to cut a lot, obviously, to make it under 74 minutes, but I'm very excited to have kept Crazy in Love, a song which I hope I never ever get sick of.

And now here are some Christmas picture highlights.

The elusive Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square at Disneyland.

We saw the pardoned turkeys at Disneyland, too. One is pictured below.

We had a white Christmas morning in Dana Point (fog is white).

And finally, this is my beautiful Cohen, taken when he was napping a bit just a few minutes ago. The flash woke him up when I tried to get closer, and now he's eating. Birdie!
